अवैध शराब बिक्री एवं सरकार को राजस्व की कमी के लिए कॉन्फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडियन अल्कोहलिक बेवरेजेज कंपनीज (CIABC) ने दस राज्य सरकारों से शराब की बिक्री की अनुमति देने का आग्रह किया है। संगठन ने कहा है कि लॉकडाउन के दौरान शराब की बिक्री पर पूरी तरह प्रतिबंध से अवैध एवं नकली शराब की बिक्री को बढ़ावा मिला है। CIABC का कहना है कि इससे सरकारी खजाने को नुकसान हो रहा है। संगठन ने कहा है कि राष्ट्रव्यापी लॉकडाउन के चलते शराब की सभी होलसेल और रिटेल दुकानें बंद हैं। CIABC ने कहा है कि उसने दिल्ली, हरियाणा, कर्नाटक, मध्य प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, पंजाब, राजस्थान, तेलंगाना, पश्चिम बंगाल और उत्तर प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़ को इस संबंध में पत्र लिखा है।

गिरी ने कहा कि शराब राज्य सरकारों के लिए आय का बड़ा महत्वपूर्ण स्रोत है और शराब की रिटेल दुकानों को बंद किए जाने के कारण राज्य सरकारों को कर के रूप में राजस्व नहीं मिल रहा है जो कोरोनावायरस महामारी से लड़ाई के लिहाज से बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।
